LEAD-IN BY HOST: For the past three weeks a Houston based Quaker organization has held a weekly peace vigil downtown. The Peace and Social Action Committee of the Live Oak Friends meet at the busy intersection of Smith and Walker - next to Tranquility Park and around the corner from City Hall. Renee Feltz caught up with two members of the group on the afternoon of New Years Eve.
STORY: For one hour, every Tuesday at noon, Bernham Terrell and Catherine Vanderpool, stand quietly among workers walking by on their lunch break, and hold a sign facing oncoming traffic with simple wording that reads: Silent Witness For Peace." Following their vigil on New Years Eve, the two Friends, as Quakers call themselves, explained the purpose of their action when they spoke with KPFT News about their views on something called the peace testimony.
