...K P F T news...K P F T newsBRIEF: Last Tuesday, Houston attorney Jim Blackburn filed a lawsuit on behalf of community groups and environmentalists to stop the Katy Freeway expansion. The project woill double the sixe of the freeway to 20 lanes. Opponents of the expansion say that the project will increase air pollution and destroy sensitive ecosystems. U.S. representatvie John Culberson, from the Katy area, says the lawsuit is fiviolous, and that his constituents overewhelmingly support the expansion. Now that the funds for the expansion has been approved, Culberson will hold town hall meetings on the subject. Unless the lawsuit is successful, construction begins in May 2003.
