BRIEF: U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld boasted early this week that the American military could easily defeat Iraqi and North Korean forces.

In response, local congressional representative Sheila Jackson Lee put out a written statement asking the Bush administration to, in her words, "seek reconciliation over war with North Korea."

Lee went on to say that our focus should be on meeting the needs of the american people in a struggling economy.

Nationally, key republican and democratic senators also called for a stronger diplomatic effort from the Bush Administration.
