Thanks for your interest in KPFT News. The best way to understand what KPFT News is doing now, is to know what KPFT news did in the past, long ago. The founding family members of KPFT intended the station to be an alternative outlet for not only music and discussion, but also hard news analyzing important issues of the day that affect the greater Houston area. KPFT News strives to meet this mission and values your feedback.
This site will serve as an archive of what we consider to be important local news gathering skills of KPFT News volunteers and staff. Most of the people who participate in KPFT News are volunteers, so please bear with us and check back frequently for updates as we add more stories to these archives. Usually most stories from the current week's broadcast will not be available online until the following week, so be sure to tune in to our weekly radio broadcast, from 6:30 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday, to hear the freshest news from this dedicated staff.
As a community service to Houstonians who enjoy journalism and keeping up-to-date on breaking stories, we have provided links to other local, national and international news agencies. Of course, we have not included all of them, but not because we want to exclude any one, but merely because time permits us to only add a few favorites (or seemingly required ones) every now and then. Most other media organizations are not eager to send you off somewhere else to get your news, but KPFT News is not like most other media organizations, something that will become obvious after reading our stories. We provide this as a community service to inform the public, and do not formally endorse any one of them over another.
