KPFT News is always looking for new volunteers to help with the news gathering process. Currently, workshops are being held to introduce new volunteers into the KPFT News process. These workshops cover topics such as how to conduct an interview, how to write for radio, how to use a microphone and voicing techniques [Link courtesy of Free Speech Radio News], how to use a mini disk recorder and how to produce a news story using digital editing software. These workshops are currently booked up for the next few months, but there are other ways you can get involved. For more information about the workshops, please e-mail producers Jackson Allers, or Renee Feltz at news@kpft.org.
KPFT News would like to begin incorporating photography into this Web site. Amateur or professional photographers, preferably with news photography experience, are encouraged to volunteer. Contact Web Editor Brandon Moeller at brandonmoeller@hotmail.com.
KPFT News is looking for someone who knows how to design a search engine for this Web site. Please contact Brandon Moeller at brandonmoeller@hotmail.com for more information.
Professional and student journalists in the Houston area are encouraged to submit story ideas, brief stories without actualities (quotes on tape), media criticisms, etc. to the KPFT News producers. E-mail: news@kpft.org. Members of the community are also encouraged to become the "eyes" and "ears" of KPFT and can submit news stories, leads, ideas or comments to news@kpft.org. Although we can not promise that everything will be covered, we are committed to serving KPFT listeners the best news and information available.
